STEFANIE VAIMAKIS MD FACS FASMBS DABOM
I graduated from NYU Medical School in 1996 and went on to do a General Surgery Residency at Saint Vincent’s Medical Center in New York City. I became interested in Advanced Laparoscopy and decided to pursue additional training. I did a fellowship in Advanced Laparoscopy and Bariatric Surgery at Montefiore Medical Center’s Institute for Minimally Invasive Surgery in New York. I graduated in 2002 and have dedicated my practice to Bariatric Surgery for the last 20 years with over 10,000 cases to date. I started the Bariatric Center of Excellence at Holy Name Medical Center and Englewood Hospital and have been Director of Bariatrics at Holy Name Medical Center for the last 10 years. I was the first to perform Robotic Bariatric Surgery at Holy Name, Englewood Hospital and Hudson Regional Medical Centers. I have been named to Castle Connolly Top Docs and Bergen's Best Top Doctor's for over 10 years now. My practice specializes not just in offering the Sleeve Gastrectomy, Gastric Bypass, Lap Band and Revisional Surgery but most importantly we focus on aftercare to ensure long term success. I am board certified in Obesity Medicine. My expertise has allowed me to be able to treat patients who have regained weight after Bariatric Surgery and get them back on track to reach their goals. Our team also includes a nutritionist to make sure patients have the support they need to be successful. In our practice you are seen and cared for directly by the doctor and not by advanced practitioners. With us you are not just a number but rather we take pride in caring and giving one on one support to help you in your journey to a healthier lifestyle. This is what sets us apart from others as a premier weight management practice dedicated to surgical and non surgical solutions that last a lifetime!
I was amazed at the difference the surgery made in people’s lives, not just physically but socially, professionally and emotionally as well. It is like no other field in surgery because it allows the surgeon to have a lifelong relationship with the patient. It is the most gratifying field because it gives me the chance to really make a difference in someone’s life. Because of that, I absolutely love what I do and have dedicated myself to this field.
It would be a pleasure and an honor for me to help you on your journey to a healthier life. I offer consultations in English, Spanish and Greek.
